The Outskirts: Some historic places to visit around Rome

Ostia Antica is an old military outpost for the city of Rome, which today is in ruins and available to the public to explore. Orvieto is a bus ride or train ride away, and a very unique hill-top town that has as much to see below ground as it does above. And the Park of Aqueducts in Rome, is a park just to the South of the city, and a very special and unique part of Rome most people never see, but is equally as rewarding as a trip to the city center.
